After hiking around for awhile, Rebbo found that he was unable to find any more strange and exotic animals. The only form of animal life he saw at all were tree and banana slugs!
What a disappointment.
Rebbo walked slowly back to the boat, as the sun was starting to get low in the sky.
The native wildlife brought up their courage and looked through the bushes. Their eyes were not scary or menacing, as some novels might lead you to believe.
They peered at their visitor, and sensed his sadness. Knowing peace was the only way, they had to stay hidden. Most humans couldn't be trusted.
Back on the boat, the captain was drinking a hot cup of coffee when Rebbo came in, forcing himself to look bright and cheery.
"Dihed theings geh wehl en teh oysland?" He asked sleepily. For some reason, whenever the captain drank coffee he would drift off, pretty much the opposite of the normal reaction.
Rebbo understood most of the words this time, and said the hike went great in a monotone.
The captain nodded and dismissed him to bed, and Rebbo was all to happy to oblige.
Judging by the dull monotone, captain Oasis was quite sure that things did not go very well. Things would go better in the morning for him.
The sailors were cooking for themselves, a difficult task in itself with the limited kitchen utensils onboard. However, this night, for some strange reason, they were cooking with less of them then usual. Sneaky.
